In Africa the population was a big help of becoming a powerful continent. Shaka Zulu, a leader who made the greatest army in Africa, made people tough, strong, and had complete control over them. This proves that with Africa's human resources, there are many more people, meaning more followers and leaders.
Shaka was born in a poor community. He was the son of a typical women and a king. The mother was a third wife and a shame to her community, making them look bad. A normal woman having a children with the king of Africa was reducing the reputation of their tribe and so she fled to the king’s tribe. There, the citizens treated her worse, but the king had somewhat of a protection for her. However, his other wives treated her cruelly and so she fled back to her original tribe. There, she realized how great the king’s tribe, as she found that her own tribe was treating her worse by the day. Shaka, the son, and his sister, were grown trough and strong by their peers, but dependent on their mothers.
Shaka eventually grew up to be a great warrior. The king wanted to see him and after seeing a impressive performance, the king asked for his name. Shaka bitterly told his father and turned away, as his past made him full of anger.
Later, Shaka hears the death of his father, a king, and kills most of his half-brothers to make sure he gets the throne. After killing many, the others scurry away and he is now the new king. The army was in a horrible condition. Mostly, one side gives up after a minor battle with light throwing spears. However, Shaka made the soldiers walk on hard needles bare foot. He would kill any soldier who even hesitated to do so. He made them walk a incredible distance and there foot became hard. They could run on any surface without feeling pain, or a minimum of it, and they got new weaponary. Instead of using spears, Shaka invented a small sword to kill the enemy with. In order to get close enough, he made a very strong shield.
After many years of victorious warfare, and taking the men of the loser’s side to reinforce his army and prevent reunion, he hears that his mother has died. He goes insane and starts to kill anybody who does not show enough emotion at her funeral. Eventually, two half brother decide to put a end to him and become the new kings, even though the massive tribe of the Zulu fall to the hands of the British.
While Shaka zulu was the King, he made a lot of difference to Africa. Such as he made the rules differently. Whenever someone did not follow the rules, they were killed. He was very strict about the rules, however people had to follow it. After his life as a king he died in 1828. All the people in the kingdom considered themselves Zulu. The Zulu kingdom was powerful even though they lost King Shaka.
